One of the most difficult aspects of any chargemaster review is the implementation of the recommendations provided by the CDM consultants to the facility.

Sentry Chargemaster Reviews not only utilize industry experts for an in-depth review of the chargemaster, but they also provide assistance in implementing their recommendations for improving billing accuracy, regulatory compliance, and reducing denials due to improperly or inadequately coded services.

We start each project with an off-site review of the chargemaster by our consultants who review the CDM using automated tools, technical expertise, and industry experience to:

  • Verify coding accuracy
  • Update invalid/deleted codes
  • Review service descriptions for accuracy
  • Identify missing charge opportunities
  • Review pricing versus reimbursement levels
  • Identify potential compliance issues

After completion of the preliminary review, our consultants go on-site to work with the facility’s departmental staffs to review compliance concerns, charging issues, and changes needed in current coding and billing practices. Information gathered from the visit is used to complete the final review with recommendations. Within a few weeks of the on-site visit, our written report with documentation sources used for determining our recommendations is provided to the hospital for approval. After receiving the finalized report, our consultant will schedule a visit to go back on-site to answer follow up questions and provide further staff education.

Sentry Revenue Cycle Reviews provide an analysis of your facility’s current business processes. These reviews are designed to assist management in understanding where they stand in their day-to-day operation across several departments and how it impacts long term revenue and cash expectations. Our consultant’s recommendations will assist in redesigning existing procedures to achieve the operational and system efficiencies management expects.

This service includes:

  • Review and analysis of processes and work flow within Admitting/Registration, Billing, Follow-Up and Collections.
  • Performance comparison to standard statistical indicators within the billing and charge capture processes.
  • Review of current staffing and recommendations to maximize operational efficiencies and performance.
  • A detailed report to management outlining our findings with recommendations and an action plan to implement those changes.
